Article Title: Inspiring Change: Carrie Mae Weems Joins Forces With Sharon Prince At Grace Farms

Grace Farms is a space for the public to engage with nature, arts, and community. It is an open space based in Connecticut to stimulate change through conversations to help inspire good in the world. It has reaped many awards for its revolutionary work in arts, environmental and social issues. Its core values lie within providing a welcoming space and a hopeful space, which is sparse but incredibly necessary.

Grace Farms was founded by Sharon Prince, a graduate of the University of Tulsa with a knack for social justice and spirituality. Prince’s innovation and vision to create a community centered around faith and inspiring hope in the world has provided a safe space for people to discuss and experience enhanced lives. Her vision has come to fruition with the success of Grace Farms as a trailblazer to bring together diverse minds for collaboration.

Prince says “Hopeful spaces alone can’t drive change. You need people who can envision what can be and vigorously work to accomplish it.”

The Foundation has recently brought on artist, Carrie Mae Weems to encourage more powerful thought on societal violence and injustice. Weems put on a performance called Past Tense which moves through the discussion of the injustices, inequality, and violence around race. She takes the crowd on a journey through America’s violent past and present, but ends with a beacon of hope where change and peace can be established. Weems’ ability to discourse and juxtapose distressing topics with inspiring hope, strongly coincides with Grace Farm’s five initiatives of Nature, Arts, Justice, Community, and Faith.

Grace Farms located in New Canaan, Connecticut is open six days a week and is free to the public.
